Frequently asked questions
Our road freight solution for direct UK or European deliveries, we’ll take the wheel no matter the shape or size of your goods – read more here. Road freight or road haulage is the transport of goods or merchandise from one location to another (a place of loading and a place of unloading) by means of motor vehicles via a road network.
Quite often, road freight will be the only way that goods can be moved between one location or another. Other modes of transport just cannot reach these locations.
Full truck loads (FTL) and Less than truckload/part loads (LCL) are available as part of our accelerate solution. Whether you have a single shipment, loads of pallets or lots of weekly full loads – we will handle your freight and give you the best solution that your road freight needs.
LTL – Less than truckload
LTL freight is generally opted by businesses which have smaller cargo not enough to fill an entire truck. In LTL, a business opt to share truck space and the transport cost with other businesses. LTL is probably the most cost-effective out of the two road freight methods, however, it can take more time to deliver as it can have multiple stops, packing & repacking requirements along the way.
FTL – Full truck load
FTL, refers to Full Truck Load freight and is generally opted by businesses because they have a shipment big enough to engage an entire truck, they require an entire truck even when filling the truck is not an option, a time sensitive trip to make or when they have goods that are delicate or goods that are of high value/risk.
We also offer groupage through our consolidate solution and amazing partnership with DHL.
We have a wide variety of trailer types and trailer widths (box, curtain side, mega, open, reefer and many more) to transport many different types of cargo. Each trailer type is suitable for a specific purpose, for example standard-sized or out-of-gauge cargo.
No project is too extreme for our accelerate team.

Flexible: Road Freight accommodates for last-minute changes whether that be to schedules or route changes.
Cost Effective: Comparing Air Freight to Road Freight, Road freight has much more affordable shipping charges. Reducing the overall cost of shipments can help to increase profit margins.
Tracking: Road Freight allows you to track how your products are being transported & plan accordingly.
Saves time: You don’t need to be involved in every step of the supply chain – only information you need to give are when and where to collect your goods & then the delivery location.
Consolidation: LTL can be utilized by companies who don’t have enough cargo to demand a full truck.
Extensive Road Networks: Delivery days can be scheduled and even next day delivery services are also viable options.
Time: Long distances overland can take a lot more time than sending cargo by air.
Toll charges: Toll charges can be high in some countries.
Delays: Traffic delays and breakdowns cannot be accounted for but are a part of everyday life.
Addressing 2 main challenges will determine what the future holds for road freight as we know it. The environmental challenge of trucking, as we know it, must become greener and more sustainable to remain competitive & the other challenge is the human element. Increased consolidation & electric vehicles will play a key part in road freight becoming greener while automated vehicles may address the human element of the future of road freight.
