European Logistics Award
Our award submission was based on the complexities thrown at businesses and their supply chains through the Brexit transition. This was a time of stepping into the unknown, with new paperwork, codes and extended delivery times.
Our ethos is always around customer service excellence and maintaining trade for our customers and supporting them through this time was crucial for them as it was for us. We grew our partnership with customs specialists Gerlach to offer expert guidance and processing of documentation all through the night and also created our very own 24/7 customs team to support our customers and our Account Managers to navigate complexity quickly and efficiently.
We have created what we call a pre-Brexit solution that has had a positive impact across our own team and has been vital to support our customers. We take pride in helping our customers re-establish themselves in Europe, positioning ourselves as a committed partner in facilitating trade, ensuring compliance, and navigating the evolving post-EU-exit landscape.

Moving Modular Buildings
Portakabin, which is part of the Shepherd Group, is the UK’s market leader in the manufacture and construction of modular buildings. Designing, building and delivering entire building projects, it has earned an international reputation for its commitment to on time, on budget project delivery, operating across ten European countries.
In the aftermath of the decision to exit the EU, Portakabin actively collaborated with several suppliers to ensure business continuity and conformity during this crucial period. As a European company operating across multiple EU countries, maintaining smooth operations was paramount for Portakabin to avoid potential problems in exporting and importing to and from the UK.
Any disruptions could have had significant repercussions for both customers and the company’s brand reputation.
We played a pivotal role in facilitating business continuity, ensuring a seamless transition and preventing any vehicles from being held at borders due to non-compliance with agreement rules.
This support not only allowed Portakabin to fulfill its ‘on time and on budget’ promise but also positioned Baxter Freight as an ongoing partner, assisting with movements into the EU and offering comprehensive transport planning and customs control compliance.
It is a testament to our crucial role that, without our assistance in European Freight, Portakabin acknowledges the challenges in maintaining business continuity during such a critical time would have been formidable.
