I’m really proud to share that we are now B Corp™ Certified, the result of a significant team effort across the business.
This is a major milestone for Baxter Freight, recognising the standards we meet today and the direction we are committed to long-term. Becoming a B Corp was the natural next step as it reflects our commitment to our mission to help our industry to become more ethical, people-orientated and planet-focused, while continuing to deliver high-quality freight solutions for our customers.
What is B Corp Certification?
B Corp certification recognises businesses that are verified as meeting B Lab™ Standards for social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.
The B in B Corp stands for “benefit” for people and the planet, not just shareholders.
The audit process is deliberately thorough. To become certified, businesses must complete a detailed assessment and provide evidence across five key impact areas: governance, workers, community, environment, and customers. Crucially, certification also requires businesses to embed a commitment to consider all stakeholders in their Articles of Association, ensuring this commitment is legally protected as we grow.
What We’ve Done to Get Here
Since Baxter Freight was founded in 2014, we’ve believed it’s possible to be commercially successful while doing business in an ethical way. Becoming B Corp Certified represents the next step in that journey, with a goal to put purpose alongside profit, and further embed accountability at the heart of how we operate.
With strong governance underpinning our decision-making, we are committed to openness, integrity and fairness, supported by our policies, including our Code of Ethics and Whistleblowing Policy, alongside regular customer, employee and supplier feedback surveys.
Our people are central to everything we do. We operate fair recruitment and promotion policies with a strong emphasis on internal progression. As a living wage employer, fair pay is backed by a comprehensive benefits package, including eight weeks fully paid parental leave, gym and sustainable travel subsidies, personal development support and paid volunteering days. We hold all-team quarterly business updates and regular staff representative meetings to ensure transparency, dialogue and shared ownership of our direction.
We also recognise the impact our industry has on our planet. Every day we work to help customers better understand and reduce their carbon footprint through GLEC-verified carbon emissions reporting, viable mitigation strategies and within supply chain carbon insetting opportunities. Our regular campaigns, promotions and industry speaking commitments reflect our ongoing advocacy for positive change across logistics.
Beyond our own operations, we place real importance on contributing positively to the communities we serve. From being recognised as Nottinghamshire’s Green Business of the year, to actively participating in British International Freight Association committees. We also hold our suppliers to high ethical standards and partner with Hope Nottingham, a local foodbank charity, to support our communities in practical ways.
Taken together, these initiatives reflect how we operate every day across the five B Corp impact areas. These are just some of the ways we strive to create shared benefit for our people, partners, communities, and the environment. We also know this is a continual journey of learning, challenge and improvement.
Looking Ahead
Our B Corp Certification is just the beginning of the next phase of our journey.
As Baxter Freight continues to grow, we remain committed to delivering smart and reliable logistics solutions while doing the best we can for our people, communities and the environment.
I’m incredibly grateful to our team, partners and customers for being part of this journey and look forward to working together to continue our progress.
