Discover how logistics is a thriving industry for graduates

Being in the centre of Nottingham, we have close links and work closely with both Nottingham Trent University and the University of Nottingham and understand the value the graduates can bring to a growing business.

Coming out of university can be a daunting time; spending years surrounded by peers, developing your knowledge and skillset to suddenly be open to the world of work. This is something we completely understand – our graduate roles are centered on the fact that there is constant support and guidance, but also, a clear set pathway for growth within your career.

Hear it from us, straight-up

Saul Bloomfield is one of our Account Managers who joined Baxter Freight after freshly graduating from Nottingham Trent University. We chatted to him all about how he found his first 6 months and his top takeaway moments.

What attracted you to the role at Baxter Freight?

S: Initially it was the sales aspect, and the salary – but after my first interview, it was the ethos and culture, the office and people that really solidified my decision.

What’s the most impressive project you’ve worked on so far?

S: My biggest job so far was for my client Ardent who send vehicle fire suppression systems all over Africa – I helped their supply chain deliver across Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Ghana and Uganda, that’s not even all of them! This project enabled Ardent to facilitate their contracts with multi-national company, Caterpillar. I learned a lot during this project, mainly due to requirements surrounding hazardous packing and transit times and all the complexities that come with it!”

How would you say you’ve developed in your first 6 months?

S: The first call I made was definitely daunting – but in the 6 months I have been at Baxter Freight I have seen my product and industry knowledge grow ten-fold! This has boosted my confidence and ability on the phone; I know the right questions to ask customers, and can improve their supply-chain with ease.

What are your top tips for working in the logistics industry?

S: Time management is key and always be open and social – having good relationships in the office makes your job much easier and a lot more fun!”
