Top tips for a fresh-start September

Amy Clifford

Forget ‘New Year, New You’; September is the new-New Year!

Whether it’s the back to school vibes following the summer holidays or saying goodbye to the warmer months, to me, September always feels like a fresh start. The air starts to feel that bit crisper and your mind starts to conjure up visions of cosy nights in, hot chocolates by the fire and dare I say the C-word… Christmas! 🙈

Like a mini, more subtle New Year, September marks the beginning of the academic year so forget all the hype, September is January’s much cooler, more chilled-out cousin. To get you started we have some practical top tips, from organising your logistics calendar to a supply chain review, we encourage you to get that fresh-start feeling.

So join us this September, it’s the perfect time to hit the reset button, get organised, get motivated and get ready for a fantastic few months to round off 2024!

Our top tips

Simple but effective – get that fresh-start feeling by following one, two or all of our top tips 👇

1. Treat yourself 📒

We’re really taking you back to school with that box-fresh feeling of new stationery.

A new notebook is a great little gift to yourself for starting fresh… just think of all those wonderful blank pages waiting to be filled. Whether it’s an outlet for your biggest, most bonkers ideas, or your plan to world domination, a new notebook invites you to write, doodle and scribble down your innermost thoughts. You never know, amongst these musings and meditations may your million dollar idea!

Also, if you’re into your stationery, there are also some really cool designs out there. And if you’re not, then how about a funny slogan to show off your sarcastic side?

2. Get organised 🗓️

Q4 is just around the corner so make sure you have your dates in order.

Whether you live by your Outlook calendar or you’re strictly old school with your paper diary and kitchen calendar, take a few minutes to update school holidays, birthdays, and notable dates like Halloween and Bonfire Night. You may even spot an opportunity in your calendar to book a coffee date with a friend or plan a cheeky weekend away?

And if notebooks and diaries are too stone-age for you, there are some great digital tools to help you get organised. Our team loves working with Trello, to plan and manage our projects. Or embrace AI with Otter, which auto-generates transcripts,  summaries and action items from your meetings.

📥 Also, why not download our Logistics Calendar which gives you all the key dates impacting the movement of goods around the world. Whether you’re involved in the headline events like Black Friday, Singles Day or Chinese New Year or not, these huge logistical events have a knock-on effect in terms of availability and rates.

3. Attend a webinar 💡

Boost your knowledge or get out there with some networking. Have a look around to see what webinars or events are available. Some are completely free to attend and are a great way to spark new ideas, ask questions and share knowledge.

If you like the sound of that, our Sustainable Freight Network is hosting a brand new, free to attend webinar this October. Report, Reduce, Remove is about sharing the importance of reporting carbon in your business.  Find out more and register your interest by clicking the button below.

4. Set some year-end goals 🎯

Has the summer sparked an idea for change? Have you been inspired to put these changes into action? Set some mid to short-term goals and start making it happen this September. It could be work, health or wellbeing related – big or small – give yourself a goal to achieve by the end of the year.

Or how about a short-term to-do list? At the start of the day, take a moment to prioritise your tasks and make a manageable action list for the day. Nothing’s quite as satisfying as crossing off items on a checklist!

5. Book a Supply Chain Review 📈

So, you’re all sorted and ready to make these last four months of 2024 count. But what about your supply chain… Does your supply chain need a September refresh too?

If so, we’d love to hear from you! Our expert team can offer a fresh perspective and come up with ideas you may not considered before. From customs to route planning, consolidation to nearshoring – book a meeting with one of our Solutions Consultants, and see if we can unlock the hidden potential in your supply chain.

Let's do this!
