Today, we announced that we have secured a market-leading solution for customs clearance after the Brexit transition period ends. The partnership with Gerlach Customs Services, the leading neutral provider of customs services in Europe, grants our customers access to customs support and consultancy from 750 experts across the continent.

The partnership sees us become the UK sales representative for Gerlach. All customers who are looking for customs support and advice for shipments between the UK and the EU will benefit from the deal, which is expected to dramatically boost business for both companies. The partnership with Gerlach will ensure creative solutions are provided in a timely manner despite Brexit challenges. Gerlach’s portfolio covers all common customs clearance services such as import, export, transit and premium services such as Customs Control Tower and Customs consultancy.

Regardless of a Brexit trade deal, when the transition period ends on 1 January 2021, all shipments between the UK and the EU will be subject to additional customs checks and documentation. The service provided by Gerlach, in partnership with Baxter Freight, will enable this process to be as smooth as possible, with Gerlach providing customs clearance services at all suitable locations including borders. This will ensure our customers are fully supported throughout the challenges Brexit will bring to their logistics.

Our Managing Director, Peter, talks about the partnership:

Peter Isler, Managing Director of Baxter Freight, said:

“Gerlach’s customs expertise across Europe will be an enormous support for our customers and will keep freight moving at a complicated time. Our current and future customers should take a lot of confidence from our level of preparation for Brexit and the network we have built. Our partnership with Gerlach and the development of our European network demonstrates our commitment to providing market-leading customer service regardless of the challenges companies are facing due to Brexit, COVID-19 and the economic crisis.”

John Peeters, Managing Director of Gerlach, said:

“We’re excited to partner with Baxter Freight, one of the most customer service-driven and sales-focused logistics companies in the European market. We have spent the last 12 months working with the senior management team to develop a partnership which prepares for the end of the Brexit transition period, and our mutual customers can have great confidence in the preparations we have done.”
