A not so Blue Monday

Grace Reddish

Why you shouldn’t care about Blue Monday.

Every year we’re told that the third Monday in January is ‘the most depressing day of the year’, but our team prefer a more positive approach.

Yes, January can be cold and grey and last an eternity – but don’t let Blue Monday get in your way of getting 2024 off to a bad start!

Blue Monday was originally devised in 2005, when travel company Sky Travel asked psychologist Cliff Arnall to create a scientific equation to understand when the January blues would peak. He considered a range of factors like: the distance from Christmas, weather, and festive debt, and from that he devised Blue Monday.

We’re here with some positivity to beat those January blues!

Team Baxter’s approach

Our office overlooks the River Trent, that’s why come rain or shine, you’ll find Team Baxter making use of their lunch break, walking along the canal and taking in the picturesque views.

Getting out for just 30 minutes can boost your energy, improve your mood, and help clear your mind – what better way to get stuck into an afternoon of easing logistical complexities!

When not walking, you’ll find Team Baxter making the most of our pool table. We take pool seriously, Pool Championship level seriously!

We aim to work within a culture of innovation and creativity, that’s why Team Baxter are encouraged to create their own start-ups – from Lunchtime Litter Picking Club, Rounders, to 5K Run Club, there’s never a dull moment at the Baxter Freight office.

We understand the importance of wellbeing at work.

Having time away from your desk allows you to develop relationships with colleagues, gain clarity, and improve your overall mood.

Being surrounded by a team of people who are there to support you, makes Blue Monday, not so blue after all!

It’s the people who make a business what it is, and we’ve got some of the best around.
