We’re thrilled to share that we have recently been awarded the EcoVadis Committed Badge, recognising our ongoing commitment to sustainability, responsible business practices, and continuous improvement.
Ecovadis is a global leader in business sustainability assessments. Their assessment encompasses 21 sustainability criteria across four key themes: Environmental, Labour & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. Over 150,000 companies globally have been assessed by EcoVadis.
Why does this matter
The transport and logistics industry is responsible for nearly 24% of global CO2 emissions and without decisive action, these emissions are projected to double by 2035.
At Baxter Freight, we’re committed to helping make our industry more ethical, people-orientated, and planet-focused. The EcoVadis assessment process validates our sustainability commitments, practices and performance, offering a clear roadmap for how we can continue to increase our impact going forwards. We were particularly encouraged by the recognition of our approach to ethical business practices, employee wellbeing, and responsible governance, which reflects the importance we place on supporting our people, customers, and partners.
This latest achievement builds on the momentum of our wider sustainability journey. Earlier this year, we were proud to be named Green Business of the Year at the East Midlands Chamber Nottinghamshire Business Awards. This recognised the work we’ve undertaken to embed sustainability across our business and support customers in making meaningful progress towards lower-carbon logistics.
Next Steps
While we’re incredibly proud to have received the EcoVadis Committed badge, we know sustainability is an ongoing journey. Our assessment has provided us with valuable insights as to where we’re performing well, while also highlighting opportunities to strengthen our impact in the future.
Using the EcoVadis framework as a roadmap, we’ll continue to drive measurable progress across our environmental, social and governance initiatives. Our ambition is to improve year on year and work towards achieving the EcoVadis Platinum medal within the next three years, alongside our B Corp recertification journey. Together, these frameworks will help hold us accountable, drive continuous improvement, and ensure we create meaningful value for our people, customers, suppliers and wider community.
