Navigate Team Leader

The impact you will have
You will guide our sea freight team and keep quotes and bookings accurate, compliant and customer-focused. You will set clear priorities, protect service levels and keep work moving, especially when plans change.
You will develop employees through regular one-to-ones, coaching and clear feedback, helping people build capability and progress. You will also contribute to the growth of the sea freight product by improving ways of working and enabling strong supplier and customer outcomes. By communicating clearly and finding solutions early, you will keep customers informed, reduce disruption and control costs.
A typical day
- Guide the sea freight processors from quote through to delivery, prioritising workloads so customer demand is met and the right solutions are sourced.
- Monitor and manage consignments end-to-end to reduce delays and additional costs, identifying issues early and resolving them quickly.
- Work with customs and clearance partners to keep solutions compliant and efficient.
- Manage the sea freight supplier approach, sourcing, selecting and onboarding carriers and partners in collaboration with the Navigate Associate Director.
- Make sure tracking platforms such as Wakeo are fully onboarded with accurate data.
- Coordinate timely resolution of supplier invoice queries and address root causes.
- Track measures such as quote conversion and turnaround times, communicating updates and using results to develop employees and improve ways of working.
- Work with Navigate Key Accounts to anticipate client needs and forecast capacity requirements on key trade lanes.
- Improve supplier performance through KPIs and SLAs, with regular reviews and actions where needed.
- Recruit, onboard and develop employees, with regular one-to-ones, feedback and clear outcomes.
- Build strong internal relationships with other managers and departments to keep sea freight operations running smoothly.
Is this role for you?
We are looking for people who:
- Have strong knowledge of freight forwarding operations and the sea freight market, including key trade lanes and operational processes.
- Have experience managing and developing a team, with the ability to coach, motivate and build capability across the team.
- Communicate clearly with customers, partners and internal teams at all levels.
- Can manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines, staying organised and accurate when things are busy.
- Are commercially aware, data-focused and solutions-focused, with strong literacy and numeracy.
