Some answers to common questions:
Our warehousing solution is available to all size businesses. From small businesses who are looking to gain a footing in Europe to those large corporations who need extra space.
All of the inventory levels are monitored in our Warehouse Management System. All of this information is available to our customers.
We try not to limit ourselves to any one specific industry. We offer very flexible warehouse space and are open to offering our services to pretty much any industry. If you think your industry is too niche, it’s probably better off contacting us!
Working out warehouse rates can be a very tricky thing to do as there are a number of factors to consider. It really does depend on how quickly the goods are moving in and out, do the goods need specialist handling equipment and what kind of shipping requirements do the items have. We do strongly believe that there is no “one price fits all” so we are happy to structure our pricing competitively to meet our customers needs. Get in touch and we can provide more of insight!
Short term is usually when we store goods for one month or less.
Long term is normally when we store goods for over a month or longer.
Trans-shipping is a logistics term that refers to the transfer of goods from one mode of transportation to another on the way to their final destination.
Cross-docking is a practice in logistics of unloading materials from a manufacturer or mode of transportation directly to the customer or another mode of transportation, with little or no storage in between.
If there is a discrepancy there is an investigation by the warehouse into what the customer thinks they have and how many there actually are, this would then be investigated to see where this went wrong and dependent on the outcome, this will be acted upon accordingly and a claim made where possible.
Audits are possible to add on that can help to eliminate the discrepancies between customer and WMS.
Contact our team of experts who can go into more detail regarding the claims process.
If a pallet is damaged upon receiving and there is a potential claim, a picture of the pallet is taken and immediately sent to the customer. The customer will then advise the warehouse to continue receiving or to hold the product in quarantine to allow further review.
Some useful warehousing terms:
This allows the goods to be held for 90 days.
Thereafter, goods must be customs cleared (and VAT and duties be paid) or be re-exported.
Goods are stored under customs control until duties and taxes are paid. This is most often used for goods where the taxes are high, including high value goods, alcohol and tobacco.
Goods can only be moved out of the warehouse in two circumstances: Duty paid, customs cleared into free circulation & if more documents are needed to move into a different facility.
This is a way of suspending VAT and duty payments for imports which will later be exported – such as importing parts used to make a new product.
If the parts are in a final product which will be exported from the UK within 6 months:
With an IPR number: the importer does not have to pay duty on the goods.
Without an IPR number: if there is documentation to prove this, the duty can be paid on deposit and refunded when proof of export is provided.
Transfer shipment from one warehouse to another.
Must move with appropriate documentation including guarantee.
This moves the liability and responsibility to a new warehouse, meaning the new warehouse bond holder now has the duty liability.
