Ian Baxter

Ian is the founder of Baxter Freight and one of the most experienced and well known figures in the UK logistics industry. Although freight has always been in his blood, he began his career working as a finance lawyer for Linklaters, one of the world’s largest law firms spending 7 years in their offices in London and Hong Kong. In 1995 Ian was enticed into the family freight business, RH Freight, and soon became managing director as part of a plan to expand the £30m turnover business under the leadership of the next generation. After leading a buyout in 2005, the company became the market leader for freight between the UK and Europe increasing turnover to £150m generated by 750 staff located in 19 offices. In 2011 Ian led the sale of the company to Kuehne + Nagel. Ian then returned to the industry in 2014, starting Baxter Freight alongside Peter Isler, with Ian becoming chairman as well as a main investor. The company culture you’ll experience is derived from Ian’s vision to make Baxter Freight a great service provider for its customers, a strong business partner for its suppliers and a great place to work for its employees. Outside of Baxter Freight Ian is an active investor, mentor and public speaker who loves family life, travel and Arsenal FC.

Peter Isler

Before starting Baxter Freight with Ian, Peter spent over 17 years working as Commercial Director for RH Freight where he oversaw the company’s organic sales growth from £30m to £150m. Peter went on to work for Kuehne + Nagel after they acquired RH Freight where he was appointed Sales Director for their UK company. With a track record of developing strong, long-term business partnerships Peter’s wealth of experience helps the company to select the best team members and suppliers providing the platform to deliver the very best customer service. Keen to hear about the performance of the business Peter encourages feedback from customers and suppliers and he is always happy to take phone calls with suggestions on how Baxter Freight might improve. His direct line is 0115 559 933. Outside of Baxter Freight, Peter enjoys country life at his home in Lincolnshire which includes looking after two horses, two dogs and several cats. When he has the time, Peter particularly enjoys driving the horse and cart to the local pub.

Nick Gretton

Nick has many years’ experience as a Finance Director. He originally studied maths and then became a Chartered Accountant; since then he has worked with large and small companies in a number of sectors, including technology, electronics, pharma and biotech. He has lived in both the UK and the USA. He shares management’s vision that Baxter Freight can make a positive impact on the freight industry by treating staff, customers and suppliers well. Nick is also involved with various non-profit organisations, and is a keen cyclist and skier.

James has worked in the logistics industry for over 16 years which has given him a full understanding of the industry. When Baxter Freight began, he was primarily involved in the southern region of the UK, leading a team of Sales Account Managers. He has recently been promoted to Head of Business Development, a role which encompasses the development of client relationships, working alongside Business Development Managers. His role as a Director ensures he is involved in the strategic development of the business, as well as developing solutions for customers and creating mutually beneficial long-term relationships. Outside of work James relaxes with his family spending as much time as possible outdoors, be it walking or running in the Derbyshire Dales, swimming, cycling and gardening.

Richard Jeggo

Richard has spent almost two decades working in logistics – he knows the industry inside out. He started his career as an Account Manager fresh from university and joined Baxter Freight on the day the company started, helping shape the business it has now become. Richard was primarily responsible for the commercial elements of Baxter Freight in the North of the UK and led a team of Account Managers and Business Development Managers. His recent promotion to Head of Customer Relations allows him to maintain and develop key client relationships, managing all Account Managers and being part of the strategic development of the business. He is motivated by going above and beyond for clients and making Baxter Freight a commercial success as the business continues to go from strength to strength. Outside of work Richard is passionate about music, endurance sports, Liverpool FC and avoiding housework. His perfect day involves wine, sun, BBQs and spending time with his wife and three boys.

Jari Rasmussen

Jari has a vast and far ranging understanding of the wider freight market. Having spent his whole career in logistics, Jari oversees the operations side of Baxter Freight making sure goods are delivered on-time through building strong and trusted relationships with international freight companies. Jari’s work is key to the smooth day-to-day running of Baxter Freight – he provides current clients with the necessary information they require, while implementing new strategies and ways of working with international partners. Having been born and bred in Denmark, Jari’s knowledge of the European market is second to none.

Lorraine Sutcliffe

Lorraine has been with Baxter Freight since the beginning. She knows the business extremely well and has a rich career in the HR industry having previously worked in senior HR roles for Safeway, Morrisons and RH Freight. At Baxter Freight, Lorraine is responsible for overseeing the training, development and mentoring of all staff. This is a vital role within the business as Baxter Freight places a lot of importance on training and developing people with only modest freight or sales experience. The robust training and development programmes produced by Lorraine have seen many of Baxter Freight’s current sales account managers and team leaders rise through the ranks and one day, they will become the future of the organisation.

As part of our dedicated Sea Freight Team, Jill supports the wider team offering her specialist knowledge and years of freight experience. Having been involved in moving a variety of complex, and at times huge shipments, Jill loves nothing more than a successfully delivered consignment and a happy customer. Day to day Jill is working on anything from quoting and booking jobs, to handling UK and international customs documentation and dealing with end user requirements. Outside of work, Jill follows her childhood passion of hockey and enjoys playing for a local team, helping her keep fit but also for the sheer love of the game! A proud mum of two, and although her children are growing up fast, she still takes an active role in their interests and hobbies, either watching her son play football or cricket or supporting her daughter at dance competitions and shows.

With over 18 years’ experience in the freight industry, Wade is responsible for managing and driving forward our groupage operation, which covers the whole of Europe. Having significantly grown the Nordic service since joining the business, Wade is now involved in the day-to-day operations ensuring customers receive the best possible service, overcoming challenges and finding creative solutions. Outside of Baxter Freight, Wade enjoys spending quality time with his wife and children whether it’s a day out at the park, cycling or a trip to the cinema. He also likes to unwind with a good boxset.

Fluent in both French and German, Joanne plays a crucial role in resolving overseas issues and is well-known for building and sustaining excellent relationships with suppliers and account managers. Day-to-day, Joanne is responsible for booking and monitoring European consignments – making regular contact with collections and delivery points in the continent, both in the UK and overseas. An avid reader and self-confessed foodie, Joanne loves nothing more than spending quality time with her friends and family.

Day-to-day, you’ll find Melanie dealing with a range of finance duties which include supplier payments, reconciliations, costings, and queries and processing. Melanie has seen Baxter Freight grow and change since 2014 as she can remember a time when all the finance processes and credit controls were being setup. She loves that aspect of the role and being part of a growing company with ambitious plans. In her spare time Melanie enjoys swimming, socialising and spends a lot of time entertaining her lovely children (they also entertain her from time-to-time too!).

Super passionate, James is all about providing the best customer service possible. He aims to always go that extra mile to ensure every consignment in carried out to the highest standard. With a successful track record in sales and customer service, James’s drive and ambition has led him to exceed expectations throughout his career. A massive fitness enthusiast you can find James at the gym most days. He also enjoys spending time with friends and family and is very musical – singing, playing and writing music.

Having worked previously at Baxter Freight in a summer role bringing all marketing and communications in house, Lottie’s experience of the business means she can work swiftly to create engaging and informative communications. Since graduating from University of Leeds, Lottie travelled around South America and even moved to Australia. From skydiving to kayaking or going for long hikes with her three dogs, land, air or sea, you can usually find Lottie outdoors enjoying the sunshine.

Responsible for managing his customers’ shipments from start to finish, Phil understands the importance of keeping his customers up to date and seeing a job through to the end. He loves working with people – building trust and being someone his customers and colleagues can rely on gives him real job satisfaction. He’s also great at multitasking. Phil completed his masters in clinical exercise physiology whilst all the time working and playing football semi-professionally. Outside of work, if he’s not at the gym, or playing/watching football, Phil loves spending time with his family and friends. He also loves to travel with Zimbabwe being by the far the best place he has ever visited.

She thrives off building long-term relationships with clients as well as identifying new business opportunities to help expand Baxter Freight. In her spare time, Lucy enjoys spending time with her boyfriend, socialising with friends and family but above all else, a chilled night in is her favourite.

Nicolle Booth

Nicolle started life at Baxter Freight as a trainee, before rising through the ranks and progressing her career with the business thanks to our extensive training programme and continued mentoring. As a Finance Administrator, Nicolle ensures invoices are sent to all clients efficiently and sets up new customer accounts, while also dealing with any queries that may arise by liaising with Account Managers, the operations team and customers directly. Nicolle felt very comfortable at Baxter Freight from the start and is now a strong member of the finance team very much enjoying the togetherness they have. Outside of work, Nicolle loves going out with friends, spending time with family, travelling and music.

Becky Boulter

Working closely with her team, Becky supports a number of our large volume accounts. With a customer-focused and problem solving attitude, Becky takes a hands-on approach with our customers to offer freight solutions that meet their needs. A CV steeped in freight experience, Becky has worked her way through the ranks – from Account Manager and to Senior Account Manager role at her previous employer to a Baxter Freight Team Leader today. Outside of freight, Becky is a proud mum of two and for her, family life is everything. Having seen lots of the world on her travels over the years, her all-time highlight was getting married in a helicopter over the Las Vegas strip!

Aimee Brown

Aimee was new to the freight industry when she joined Baxter Freight but with a great deal of sales experience, and heaps of enthusiasm, she has quickly risen through the ranks to Senior Account Manager. Day-to-day her role includes building relationships with companies from various sectors, getting to know their business and identifying how Baxter Freight can improve their logistic processes. Aimee is passionate about creating long lasting relationships with these companies by regularly going over and above for clients. To relax, Aimee enjoys socialising with friends and family however most of her time is currently spent stripping wallpaper as she renovates her home. Aimee also enjoys a glass of wine or two, whether that be at the pub or at home watching Netflix.

Since joining the team, Ollie has been determined to learn everything he can about freight, and what better place to explore the world of logistics than at Baxter Freight – getting involved in shipping all manner of goods around the world. He’s also keen to get to know his customers (some of whom have been working with him from his very first week) to develop long standing relationships and become the person that his customers can rely upon. Always up for a challenge, Ollie studied ancient history at the University of Birmingham then took the leap to working in freight after graduating. He also loves music, especially heavy metal, and has played the drums since he was 11. He loves travelling, his favourite destinations being Rome and Prague and is always on the lookout to try new places to socialise, eat … and a sample the beer!

O’Neill is a real people person and enjoys building close relationships with both new and existing clients. After graduating from Leeds Metropolitan University with a degree in international business, O’Neill has worked in various sales roles across the insurance and transport industries but is relishing his first opportunity specifically in freight. Outside of work, O’Neill enjoys keeping fit so tries to get together as much as possible with friends and play 5-aside football – he’s known as the striker who can’t shoot! He also regularly goes to the gym and spends lots of time with family at the weekends taking his nieces and nephews to the park, out for food or wherever keeps them entertained!

Outside of work, most of his spare time is spent with friends and attending live music events.

Always learning, he is keen to acquire new skills and experience, and in freight, there is always something new to learn! With a proven track record in sales and account management, Douglas enjoys building meaningful and lasting relationships with his customers. As a Baxter Freight account manager, Miriam works with a range of different businesses, getting to know their logistics needs and understanding how we can help improve their supply chain performance. Passionate about customer service, Miriam is always on hand to offer clear communication and quick responses to ensure she can offer the best customer experience. Before working at Baxter Freight, Miriam worked as a gymnastics coach and also studied Hispanic studies at the University of Nottingham where she learnt both Spanish and Portuguese – which comes in handy when working at an international freight company! She also loves to travel (with Rio de Janeiro being the best place she’s visited), playing the guitar and spending time with her family and friends.

Always up for a challenge, Will applies a problem-solving approach to logistics, helping to meet the needs of his customers whilst delivering great customer service. Will loves to keep up to speed with his customers and enjoys speaking to them daily to understand how we can support them further. With a background in product design and innovation, Will has been involved in a number of interesting projects – a particular highlight was creating an environmentally friendly cardboard packaging alternative which has helped to save tonnes of plastic waste every year! Outside of work, Will keeps active with downhill mountain biking and Thai boxing and loves a night out with friends. He has big plans to organise a road trip across North America in the not so distant future.

As Baxter Freight’s Marketing & Communications Officer it is Amy’s job to make sure anyone who’s anyone knows who Baxter Freight is and what we do. Amy is passionate about bringing the culture of Baxter Freight to life and showing people how we do logistics differently. Since graduating with a First-Class degree from Loughborough University, Amy has spent all her entire working life in marketing, communications and events management. Outside of Baxter Freight Amy is all about the family life – spending as much time as possible with friends and family, especially her two young boys. Having recently taken up camping, she is eager to find new and beautiful places to visit and pitch up.

As part of the Customs Support Team, Loretta is involved in supporting the flow of customers’ goods in and out of the UK. On a daily basis Loretta is busy checking and issuing customs documents, ensuring they meet the regulatory requirements and working closely with our Customs partner, Gerlach. As well as being into the detail, Loretta also enjoys helping others and working as a team to make a positive contribution to the business. With a degree in Business Administration, Loretta has enjoyed working in a variety of industries, but applying her auditing and compliance skills to customs, and joining Baxter Freight, was a no brainer. Loretta has enjoyed the challenge Brexit has brought and is keen to continue her career progression in customs. As a naturally creative person, in her free time she enjoys the arts- this could be taking on new home improvement project or listening and trying out different genres of music.

Caitlin Cooney

As a Key Account Co-ordinator, Caitlin supports one of our biggest accounts, helping to keep track of thousands of shipments a week. With customer service at the forefront of her role, Caitlin ensures customers are kept up to date and informed. Having studied fashion journalism at the University of Sunderland, Caitlin started working in logistics after graduating. Joining the freight business was well timed and her career has gone from strength to strength, working with some big names such as Kuehne+Nagel, the mighty Amazon and now the customer-service driven logistics provider, Baxter Freight. She still has a huge love for fashion and keeping up with the latest trends (although some may be questionable!) and spends hours in her favourite shop, Urban Outfitters. She also loves listening to music and catching up on a good series on Netflix.

Zaynah Dad

As part of our busy Key Accounts team, Zaynah helps to ensure our key account shipments are managed with exact precision. Working on specific accounts, Zaynah know what loads are going where and when, and plays a vital role in keeping our customers' freight moving. When Zaynah joined Baxter Freight she was new to transport and logistics having previously studied Medical Physiology at the University of Leicester. With experience in customer service, Zaynah quickly adapted to the busy office environment and enjoys learning new things all the time. She loves to stay active, going to the gym and also outside or work, chilling and relaxing with her family and friends.

Jasmin Davies

Jasmin is working hard in her role as Account Manager to bring great customer service to the transport industry. She is in touch with a variety of customers from all over the country. Her role is to understand what and where they export, and finding a way to help – especially in going that extra mile to deliver a service that really makes a difference. Life outside of Baxter Freight for Jasmin means keeping in shape at Zumba with her mum and seeing the world! Her most recent trips includes visiting New York and Niagara Falls. She loves food and is partial to a cheeky Nandos or Pizza Hut.

Harry Doughty

Harry is an expert at juggling several tasks at once. He loves speaking to new people and spends a lot of his time dealing with customer from across the UK and Europe. He helped to improve the supply chain for one of Europe’s biggest packaging companies within his first year of joining our team and has set his sights replicating this success for other clients. As a new home owner, Harry has developed a love-hate relationship with flatpack furniture and relaxes by playing FIFA and Football Manager.

Tom is our Team Leader for our Customs Team. Since Brexit, Customs has become a key role at the heart of every non-domestic shipment,. A crucial part of Tom's role is working closely with partner Gerlach to ensure paperwork is signed off in a timely manner, keeping customers updated every step of the way. In his spare time, Tom enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, a walk in the park and family holidays. He likes his football and supports Derby County.

Charley Ferris

With a passion for delivering great customer service, Charley has been working with customers since he was 16 years old. Charley understands the importance of asking the right questions and listening to customers in order to provide the right solution – a solution that not only helps solves logistical challenges but also adds value. Before joining Baxter Freight, Charley achieved a Masters degree in International Relations, which ties in nicely now working for an international freight provider. Outside of work, Charley spends his time playing ultimate frisbee, a fast-paced team sport played with… you guessed it, a frisbee! As a two-time national champion, Charley now coaches the University of Nottingham men’s team in his spare time. He also loves going to watch live music, especially when it’s a local Nottingham act, and tries to get over to the City Ground to watch Nottingham Forest as often as he can.

The role of UK Freight Operator is all about relationships – whether that be speaking with suppliers, liaising with our internal sales team or working as part of the busy Baxter Freight operations team – Lee is invested in getting to know the people he works with. With a problem-solving approach, no two loads are the same and it certainly keeps the day interesting finding new and creative solutions for our customers. With over 20 years’ experience in transport, Lee has been involved in moving all sorts of goods, in all types of modes of transport, from fuel tankers to refuse trucks. Outside of work Lee loves anything outdoorsy which took him travelling around the world back in 2007 where he saw a whole house being moved through the city of Rotorua, NZ on a low loader! He also enjoys walking, cycling and watching his young daughter play football for West Bridgford Colts.

Outside of work, Shella is member of Nottingham Women’s Handball Club where she trains once a week and plays matches across the East Midlands a few times a month. She also loves travelling the world and plans to visit Malaysia or Thailand in the near future. When she isn’t globetrotting or at the gym, Shella can be found watching Netflix while knitting jumpers for hers and her friends’ wardrobes.

All those fond memories of seeing her dad and his lorry did indeed rub off as Aimie has spent most of her working life in transport. As a Domestic Operator at Baxter Freight, Aimie’s role is solution orientated. Working closely with our suppliers, she enjoys the challenge of finding the most fitting solution to our customers’ needs. It was a proud day for Aimie (and her dad!) when she gained her International Transport Manger Certificate. As busy working mum, when she finds the time, and the energy (we all know how that feels!) Aimie likes to visit the gym. But she will always find the time to spend with her family, going for walks with her partner, young son and dog, Hank.

Betty joined Baxter Freight’s Customs Support Team in the newly formed role of Customs Support Administrator. Every day Betty is involved in checking and verifying freight documents for custom clearance purposes. She works with our network of trusted suppliers and partners, especially customs brokers and AEO. As part of her role, Betty enjoys working in what has been a challenging and evolving time since the UK left the single market. She has had to learn on the job to understand what freight looks like for our customers post-Brexit, and has seized the opportunity to develop new processes and ways of working – all the time learning, and developing her skills. Her career in logistics spanned six years prior to joining Baxter Freight, with a stand out moment in her career coming when she was recognised by her previous employer as one of five ‘Employees of the Year’, from a workforce of over 5,000! At home Betty loves DIY, especially upcycling old furniture. She also enjoys traveling, visiting new places and spending time outdoors, walking and cycling.

Her attention to detail, taking care of customers and suppliers alike, and going the extra mile has earned Cat a deserving reputation for delivering great customer service. With a real strategic and creative approach to freight, Cat can use her experience, knowledge and networks to find the most effective logistical solutions on the market. Over the years she has worked in many different areas of freight including post flight clerk, sales, imports and international exports – even a stint as a van driver. Laura is passionate about her customers and day-to-day she’s out on the road meeting clients, developing new working relationships and coming up with creative solutions using her vast experience of domestic and international road freight. Outside of work, Laura is a busy mum to three teenagers, which often involves driving them to various social events here there and everywhere. She also loves going to the gym and her three favourite things in life are holidays, her dog Jack and a rhubarb gin and tonic.

On a daily basis she is catching up with her customers, making sure their logistic operations are running smoothly and offering up innovative solutions to their freight requirements. Keeping in close contact with our customers lets them know that delivering great customer service is our number one priority. After graduating from Nottingham Trent University with a degree in fashion accessory design, Ella undertook a summer job where she soon learnt she had a natural flair for sales and customer service. Out of work Ella loves music festivals and gigs. As a proud Nottingham Forest season ticket holder, she spends many Saturdays at games, home and away. A keen traveller, Costa Rica is the next destination on the list… watch this space!

Dharmesh Raja

Dharmesh is responsible for the day to day management of our finance department and is a key member of the management team at Baxter Freight. Dharmesh is a qualified accountant and has a wealth of experience working in the transport and logistics industry. As well as leading his team, Dharmesh plays a hands-on role in delivering great customer service – whether that be for our customers, suppliers or internally, supporting all members of the Baxter Freight team. Having spent a large part of his career working overseas in South Africa and traveling across Asia and Europe, Dharmesh and his family are keen explorers. Together they enjoy nothing more than getting outdoors, seeking new adventures and dining out, trying different flavours and cuisines.

Working closely with our DHL Freight partners in Sweden and Finland, Mike is part of our terminal based solutions team. Committed to providing the best customer service, Mike’s dedication to ‘getting it right’ is what motivates him every day. During his varied career in transport, Mike is proud to say his hard work has always prevailed. He has worked his way up through the ranks, and following a relocation from Essex to Nottingham, is today our highly skilled and experienced Groupage Operator. But according to Mike, his greatest achievement in life is, without a doubt, his children. He gets involved wherever he can – trying out his eldest daughter’s latest cakes and bakes, watching his son play cricket or helping his youngest daughter with her studies. He loves sports and music, listening to anything from progressive rock, country and pop (in small doses!) to punk, house and trance. He also recently found a new hobby in cooking, trying out new flavours, ingredients and healthy recipes.

As well as spending time keeping fit on the football pitch, Jamie is a big music fan and you’ll regularly catch him listening to Pink Floyd, Oasis, Rival Sons and Foo Fighters.

Joao was new to freight when he started at Baxter Freight, but his background in quality control and auditing made his move to customs a great fit. His eye for detail and ability to work with accuracy makes him a real asset to the team. And as part of our Customs Team, the ability to work quickly and efficiently is a must in order to turnaround clearances without delay. A proud moment for Joao was when he achieved his BSc (Hons) degree in IT from the University of Derby, whilst all the time working full time. Away from the hustle and bustle of the office, Joao loves the chilled life. Into his sports, Joao follows football but also enjoys keeping tabs on basketball and ice hockey. He also loves listening to music – anything from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s – and catching up on true crime podcasts to feed his ‘inner detective’. A keen traveller he hopes to return the US and fulfil his dream to do the ultimate road trip along Route 66.

Chris Roome

Groupage Operations Manager

As European Groupage Manager, Chris oversees our European Groupage service and also manages our Customs department. As part of his role, he works closely with our European partners including DHL, Gerlach, KNP and Handtrans to ensure we offer the very best European Groupage service in the UK. An experienced member of the team, Chris was previously the UK Operations Manager at Baxter Freight and played a pivotal role in building this department up to what we know today. Chris has also spent a significant part of his freight career in the waste industry running waste collection vehicles across the UK (not as rubbish as it sounds!) Outside of work Chris enjoys spending time with his family – going out for nice meals and trying out different restaurants. A sports fan, Chris especially enjoys watching football and cricket. The dream over the next few years is to follow English cricket abroad to either Australia or the West Indies

Margaret Ryan

With Baxter Freight since day one and always in the office with a smile on her face, Margaret is an integral part of the team. As Administration Manager, Margaret’s role is extremely varied but her specialism is payroll. She also gets involved in dealing with freight claims as well as providing day-to-day administration support to the management team. Margaret is a people person and passionate about building great relationships with her colleagues as there’s no denying we all do our jobs better when happy. Naturally, Margaret loves spending time with her family, walking the dog and gardening, but mostly enjoys catching up with friends over a glass of wine.

Gary Sawle

IT and Security Manager

Gary has the patience of a saint. He is responsible for looking after our IT infrastructure and systems, as well as being the first port of call for any internal IT-related queries. He has helped us to develop an infrastructure fit for rapid growth and has been with the team since the business was formed. More recently he has been integrating systems with larger suppliers and customers to improve the services we can offer. As a qualified systems engineer/systems administrator, he is on hand to deal with any IT concerns quickly and effectively to ensure the day-to-day running of the business isn’t affected. As well as keeping the business running, Gary recently took up running as a hobby and has started to enter into races.

Greg is currently undertaking a part-time degree through the Open University in Business Management to add to his continual professional development with Baxter Freight. His background is in customer service and sales, having worked in previous roles for E.ON Energy and Domestic & General. Outside of work, Greg started out life as a professional footballer having secured contracts with Notts County and Barnsley. He now plays semi-professional for Loughborough Dynamo – be sure to go along and support on a Saturday afternoon!

Sporty by nature, Jacob worked part time as a swimming instructor and lifeguard whilst studying Business Marketing at De Montfort University and outside of work, life pretty much revolves around football – whether that be watching his beloved Leicester City or playing for Whetstone Athletic as a goalkeeper which is just perfect for him as he is 6’6.

Kev joined the team with a passion to deliver great customer service. In the role of key accounts, Kev and the team work with some of our high volume accounts – booking in and checking large shipments each and every day. He is always on hand, speaking directly with customers and offering open and clear communication. During his long and varied career in transport, Kev had an important delivery once to a certain palace in London… only to find that the delivery had gone to the wrong palace! Luckily a nice lady offered up her helicopter to take the package to the right palace. Outside of work you’ll mostly see Kev running – he likes to run at least 30 miles a week and is looking forward to completing yet another London Marathon. He also loves spending time with his three children.

Rachel Smith

As a Customs Support Administrator, Rachel provides customs clearance for customers' European road freight shipments, ensuring the smooth passage of goods in and out of Europe. A detailed and organised member of the team, Rachel is perfectly suited to working quickly and accurately, checking paperwork and following multifaceted import/export processes. With years of experience working as a European trailer operator, Rachel understands the dynamic and ever-changing landscape that is the freight industry. Outside of work, you can find Rachel exploring Derbyshire, off on long walks and enjoying the views - with the Blue Lagoon in the Peak District being one of her all-time favourite spots. When she’s not out exploring you will find her at home with a good book and her three cats, two of which are rescues. A real animal lover, and if Rachel ever won the lottery, she would love to open up a huge rescue centre!

Kinga Sobierajska

Working as part of our Customs Support Team, Kinga is responsible for ensuring all our European road freight loads is cleared correctly as part of our market-leading Brexit solution, in partnership with DHL and Gerlach Customs Services. Motivated by targets and working to a deadline, Kinga is perfectly placed working in the ever-changing landscape that is Customs, especially since Brexit. With freight running in the family, lots of her family are drivers in the UK and overseas, it was no surprise when Kinga started working for one the world’s biggest logistics companies. However, Kinga took a break from freight to study Animal Behaviour and Training at University – a unique experience training animals such as lemurs, meerkats, otters and many more! After graduating, Kinga is proud to return to freight to carry on this family tradition. With a sense for adventure, Kinga enjoys traveling; Mexico being her all-time favourite – she is a sucker for sun, a beautiful beach and a cocktail. She also loves shopping and buying all those things that she just doesn’t need!

Max Stanford

Max is an extremely driven Team Manager who prides himself on being able to solve problems for customers by reacting quickly to specific, high-value and time-critical requests. He regularly challenges himself and is constantly striving to be better, whether that be through improving his knowledge of customer management, operations or business development. Using his knowledge of the freight industry, Max aims to streamline customers’ supply chains, improve transit times and reduce costs. Max always puts the customer first and builds personal relationships with clients in order to gain their trust – a valuable commodity in the freight industry. Outside of work, Max is sport mad and takes pride in organising the Baxter Freight weekly five-a-side football matches. When sport isn’t taking up Max’s time, it’s his love of music – he mixes house and disco in his front room and goes to lots of festivals.

Sarah has over 10 years’ experience in the freight industry and during that time has previously worked closely with both our chairman, Ian, and managing director, Peter. A seasoned Business Development Manager, she is regularly out on the road building the Baxter Freight brand and meeting potential new clients face-to-face. Sarah is responsible for maintaining relationships with an existing customer base and increasing sales revenue for the wider business through customer acquisition. She loves working closely with colleagues and customers and genuinely cares about helping customers improve their businesses so Baxter Freight can grow with them. In her spare time, Sarah loves to travel and see new countries, spend time with friends and family and, overall, make every experience count.

Gurpal Thamu

Gurpal, or Gurps to his Baxter Freight colleagues, is an avid learner. From his time working on his business administration apprenticeship, to studying sociology at Nottingham Trent University - Gurps is always looking for ways to further his knowledge and his career. Having discovered the world of logistics after graduating uni, Gurps’ thirst for knowledge continues. Heavily involved in the administrative side of our customs department, Gurps’ eye for detail and methodical approach means he’s fully equipped to deal with the thousands of customs clearances we handle. Gurps is a firm believer in having a good work-life balance. He loves to work hard but also balance that out with keeping fit at the gym, playing football, keeping up with the latest car releases or trying out new restaurants. He also loves meeting up with friends, going out, socialising, happy to have a chat with anybody and everybody!

Sarah Thompson

Heading up our Air Freight department, Sarah is our air freight specialist. With over 20 years’ experience in forwarding, handling and haulage, Sarah has worked with some of the world’s largest airlines, moving 100 tonnes of freight daily. Working collaboratively with her team, Sarah is always on hand to offer her expert advice. Sarah also works closely with our suppliers, speaking to them on a daily basis to understand the opportunities within the market. As a member of the management team, her enthusiasm and passion for her job is an inspiration to the entire Baxter Freight team. As a busy working mum, outside of work she loves to spend time with her family, especially travelling and they hope to be jetting off on holiday to Mauritius in the not so distant future. Sarah also enjoys interior design, upcycling furniture and loves buying far too many vases and candles for the house!

A qualified teacher, Ally changed career paths after starting up a ‘lockdown business’ during the pandemic where he discovered a love for sales and commerce. He loves to keep busy so as well as working at Baxter Freight, he not only manages his online vintage clothing business but he also enjoys a multitude of hobbies including football, mountain biking and adding to his large sneaker collection.

Adam Tucker is one of the team’s Senior Account Managers who particularly enjoys handling the more problematic and unusual shipments our customers need moving. To this day he still works with his first ever client at Baxter Freight and takes pride in keeping all of his customers happy – regardless of the company’s size or the volume of goods moved. When he isn’t solving a client’s logistics problems, he can be found spending quality time with his family and enjoying socialising with friends.

Bev Turner has helped Baxter Freight expand into the North East of England using her business development expertise. She specialises in solving the supply chain issues facing businesses, particularly within the manufacturing sector. She is able to get to the nub of an issue quickly and helps to deliver creative logistics solutions which are bespoke to customers’ needs. More recently she has fulfilled various projects from large full load projects to express van deliveries for the automotive industry. A self-confessed Walt Disney World addict, Bev will spend her holidays in Florida whenever possible. Otherwise when she’s at home she can be found walking her pug, running and spending time with her son.

With a Masters degree in law, Erin is a skilled communicator with an appetite to learn and to succeed in everything she does. Erin was new to freight when she joined Baxter Freight and true to her studious nature, was eager to learn everything she could about the industry. Outside of work she’s loves fashion and travel with Venice being her favourite place to visit – not just for its beauty and culture but for the shopping and food too of course! With more travel on the cards, Erin is also learning to speak French… next stop, Paris?

Day-to-day Jamie is focused on finding the best transport solution for our customers and applying a creative and innovative approach to meeting customers' needs. With over 15 years’ experience in logistics, Jamie comes from a planning background so knows in depth what opportunities and challenges the UK freight market offers. Besides knowing his low loaders from his curtain siders, Jamie is very into his sports. As a Notts County Cricket season ticket holder he enjoys taking in the cricket at Trent Bridge or playing for his local team. He also enjoys watching American Football, supporting the Indianapolis Colts and would love to go to the Superbowl one day.

Not shy of a challenge, Jason enjoys the multitasking element of his role at Baxter Freight and is always looking for a unique or creative solution to a problem. A natural problem solver, his pragmatic attitude not only benefits his colleagues but our customers too. With a proven track record, and over a decade of IT-based work experience, Jason has previously worked at one of the most prominent technology firms in the UK. When he’s not at work Jason spends most of his time (rightly so!) with his wife, and young son, who tries particularly hard to keep his dad busy! He also enjoys the odd puzzle, riddle or game of FIFA and planning his family's next getaway - always keen to find a hidden gem, off the beaten track.

Phil started life at Baxter Freight as a sales Account Manager on the very first day of trading. Now a sales team leader, Phil is responsible for overseeing and training a team of five account managers ensuring the best possible solutions are provided and high level of customer service is reached. Phil takes pride in his personal development and has broken many records over the years by hitting and exceeding sales targets. In his spare time, Phil has been renovating his house and building a man cave so that certainly keeps him busy – as well as his children, of course.

As a Customs Support Administrator, Aga forms part of our Customs team, a department dedicated to supporting our customers, suppliers and team post-Brexit. As part of her role, Aga is heavily involved in ensuring our customer’s road freight shipments run smoothly in and out of Europe. Working closely with our partners, ranging from our network of trusted suppliers, to customs brokers, to AEO, Aga is customer service driven and enjoys helping others. From Poland, Aga studied English Studies for five years and graduated with a Masters degree. In Poland she taught English and then came to the UK in 2015 where she has spent all her working life in logistics, warehousing and distribution. She loves to travel with her favourite places being Thailand and Malaysia. She has also enjoyed exploring the UK over the years, with plans to visit Cornwall and Scotland next. She also loves to cook and bake, making bread, cakes, muffins, cookies, pies and confectionery… especially confectionery, as she has a bit of a sweet tooth!
