IT Support Specialist

The impact you will have

As an initiative-taking, driven person, you will function as the first point of escalation and help all employees while working your way through tickets on the service team all the way through to completion. As an analytical person within a Windows Server environment, alongside Microsoft 365, you will also maintain the companies IT hardware, software, and services. You will be crucial to the smooth running of Baxter Freight, so have a real opportunity to make an impact on the business.
A typical day
- Being the first point of contact for all IT issues that will come through our internal ticketing system, this will be a broad range of issues and a range of timescales.
- Logging and categorising incoming incidents/requests.
- Keeping detailed records of issues, solutions, and progress on tasks in the IT system.
- Ensuring all incidents are resolved or escalated as necessary, creating reports when required.
- Liaising with third-party IT service providers to ensure timely delivery of services, resolve escalated issues, and ensure hardware stock is replenished as needed.
- Resolving tickets with your knowledge and a problem-solving mentality.
- Your day will be spilt between resolving incoming tickets and project work. This could be exploring new IT tools, solutions or security practices that could enhance our IT infrastructure.
- Providing support to both in-office and remote employees, ensuring they have the necessary tools and access to stay productive, no matter their location.
- Escalating when needed to your Head of IT/Third party providers.
- On-board/off-boarding employees as required from an IT perspective.
- Managing hardware loan stock, ensuring laptops are always available when needed throughout the business.
- Ensuring Anti-Virus software is maintained and up to date.
- Being a point of escalation when there are facilities issues raised.

- You’re a team player who values collaboration but can also work independently, managing your time effectively between reactive support and proactive project work.
- You have an interest in IT security, understanding the importance of cyber security and how to apply best practices in a business environment.
- You’re curious and proactive about learning new technologies and systems, and you’re looking for an opportunity to grow and develop your career.
- You are detail-oriented and organised, ensuring hardware and software assets are always maintained and up to date, and you can manage priorities to ensure key tasks are completed.

- You have experience of administrating a CRM system (Salesforce) is advantageous.
