As an Aviate Specialist, you’ll be the linchpin in ensuring smooth air freight operations. Your efficiency and proactive communication will be critical in delivering unparalleled service to our customers and suppliers. By managing import and export air freight shipments, you’ll navigate challenges and find solutions, ensuring our freight moves seamlessly across the globe.
A typical day
- Requesting and gathering quotations swiftly from suppliers and partners in a timely and efficient manner.
- Negotiating with suppliers while prioritising the client’s interests.
- Managing the entire air freight operation, from generating documentation to ensuring final delivery.
- You will be responsible for the entire airfreight operation by generating all relevant documentation including but not limited to; collection notes, master airwaybills, house airwaybills manifests and delivery notes through to the final destination.
- Handling export customs entries in collaboration with our in-house customs team, ensuring compliance requirements are met.
- You will prepare documentation for import clearance, monitor arrivals, keep track of entries, collection duties and taxes, and arrange deliveries in a timely and efficient manner.
- Managing the air freight operation from receipt of customer bookings and arranging collections to booking shipments with airlines.
- You will be managing the air freight customs entries ensuring you meet deadlines alongside our in-house customs team with collaboration at the forefront.
- Preparing documentation for import clearance, keeping track of entries and arranging deliveries in a timely and efficient manner.
- Building strong relationships with suppliers, haulers, airlines, and overseas agents to guarantee top-quality service.
- You will develop relationships with the hauler, warehouse partners, airlines and overseas agents to meet our customers’ expectations.
- Updating account managers with the status of their shipments ensure we are providing a high standard of customer service.
- General freight administration, including invoicing/costing of files processing departmental invoices, and raising queries with suppliers through to resolution.
Is this role for you?
- We’re looking for a seasoned Air Freight professional with a solid foundation within a freight forwarding environment.
- Experience in IATA Dangerous Goods by Air is desirable, but not essential.
- Do you have experience in imports, exports, and cross-trade?
- Are you commercially minded, operationally strong, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Communication and attention to detail are your superpowers, allowing you to work independently and make swift, effective decisions under pressure.
- Working autonomously is a key part of this role, so you need to be self-motivated, able to use your initiative, and driven to find the best solutions for our customers.
- Experience with Salesforce and/or Forward Office is a plus, but your ability to multi-task and build lasting relationships is what truly sets you apart.
- You’ll be a natural problem-solver and can think on your feet.
- You can work to a deadline and make decisions under pressure.
- You have a methodical approach to work, whilst being able to work accurately at speed when required.
